It’s a podcast! It’s the grandchild of talk radio, basically.
Podcasts are often released in weekly episodes, and they’re an awesome way to pass the time on commutes, road trips, or walks (I’m biased, but still). They range in length pretty widely- anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours. You’d be shocked how quickly the time passes when you’ve found a good one.
If you have an interest- no matter how niche- there’s a podcast that talks about it. Food, politics, sports, comedy, home improvement, music, news, fashion, movies, video games- literally anything.
Some podcasts are in a structured storytelling or narrative format. Others are very casual and conversational. Others still are instructional. It’s all about listening to different podcasts and finding out what you enjoy most.
How do I listen?
If you have a smartphone of any kind, or a computer with access to iTunes, you can subscribe to as many different shows as you like. Doing so will make sure that every time your favourite podcasters release a new show, it’s available for download right on your device.
The best way to do this is to download a podcast app. Apple Podcasts is the most commonly used app on iPhones and iPads, and there’s a wide range of alternatives for both Apple and Android devices (my favourite is called RadioPublic. Many people love Overcast, Podcast Addict, Google Podcasts, and Stitcher).
If a podcast you love isn’t available on your favourite podcast app, you can often use the RSS feed to search for it (instead of just searching by name).
Snack Judgment’s RSS feed is https://snackjudgment.podbean.com/feed.xml
If you don’t want to download anything, you also often stream podcasts online as well on the podcast’s website or hosting site (where the episodes are uploaded before being distributed to iTunes and beyond).
You can listen to Snack Judgment online on Podbean, our hosting site.
